n00b help compliling kernel "patch-2.6.10"??
Im attempting to compile a kernel 'properly' having only used genkernel in gentoo and changing a few options and re-compilng.
I have downloaded 2.6.10 from kenernel.org and am left with patch-2.6.10.bz2. I th bunzip2 it. Im left with patch-2.6.10. Reading through kernel guides before i do anything i need to change my symlink to point at the new kernel image. I was expecting, after deleting /usr/src/linux to do:
ln -s linux-2.6.10 linux
ln-s patch-2.6.10 linux
Any light shed on this n00b confusion would be greatly appreciated.
