Upgrading to Linux Kernel 2.6.5 (Slackware 9.1)
I am running Slackware 9.1 and I am wanting to upgrade to the latest kernel. I am downloading the full source for the 2.6.5 Kernel from http://www.kernel.org/ - It is about 34MB or so, this will take me awhile since I am on dialup.
Anyway, when the download is finally done, how do I install it? What are some precautions I should take? Oh yeah, I should probably mention I am a linux newbie. I have only installed a few programs and a modem driver so I don't have alot of experience and knowledge of any commands and whatnot.
Thanks for any help.
