Arrow DSL Help

When I try to use DSL on my old emachines T1840, the colors are all distorted and grainy.
I managed to get the colors to work by changing the resolution through the F3 options, but I can't get a resolution higher than 640 by 480 without the colors being distorted and the desktop icons not appearing. I'm having the exact same problem as the 1st one this thread: http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/kno...-dsl-help.html
