Computer will not re-boot after using Knoppix

While trying out various Live-CD distros I booted Knoppix.
After shutting down using the proper Knoppix procedure my computer will not re-boot, either in Windows xP or and of the Live CDs. It just hangs at the bios display. Pressing F1 does no good.
The computer recovery disk does not boot either.
I have tried rebooting with Live-CD in each of my CD Drives.

Computer is a 3 year old Compaq Athlon 64, and never any problem with it until I used the Knoppix Live CD.

Anyone any idea of what I should do now?

Check your motherboard manual for steps needed to reset the BIOS. That might do the trick.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks oz, I found the details for resetting the CMOS.

However before I got to do it something strange happened - I switched on the computer (no CD's in the drive) and after about 25 minutes hung up on the Bios screen the computer booted up in Windows - without me doing anything to it at all.

So, what does Knoppix do to the Bios? "m a bit wary of booting up on Knoppix again in case the same or wosre happens
I tried Live-CDs of Ubuntu, PCLOS, Slax and Mepis without any bios problems.

It shouldn't do anything to the BIOS, so I'm thinking it might have all be coincidental.

Glad you were able to boot back into Windows.
