Knoppix CD Menu problem

Hi Guy's. Thanks for letting me join you. But I am having a problem with my Knoppix experience. I have the live CD and it boots just fine with no problems. The problems I am getting are when I start working. Oddly, as soon as my mouse pointer touches the 'Quick Launch' icon bar at the bottom of the screen, they all disapear, together with the 'K' icon just above it, leaving me unable to do anything. This is very frustrating as I cannot configre a persistent drive and cannot shut down. I have had to switch off my computer to do this and am worried about gliching my CD. Can anyone help me out on this? Many thanks. Cypher
