Saving to floppy

Hi Guy's. Have searched on this subject but failed to find any help. My problem is that I have written notes that I then needed to save to floppy. I decided to use 'save as' because that gave me the option I wanted. I was able to list the floppy drive and duly gave the file a name. I was amazed to be told that this could only be saved by using HAL. No! Surely!

I cannot save notes to floppy without HAL? Unbelievable! Come on guy's whats the secret? Surely knoppix should be able to save my file to floppy? It is useless if it can't. Hope someone can let me into this. Many thanks. Cypher

Hello,
I have only just seen this. You may have to mount the floppy first.
or use mtools.

assuming you want an icon on the desktop
assuming you hava a 5.1.1 cd

right click on the desktop
create new > link to device > floppy device

right click floppy icon
properties > device (tab) > choose /dev/fd0

right click floppy icon
mount

now you can save any way you want
