cdrom does not exist??

Hi folks, I'm a newb here-

I installed knoppix off a cd that came with "Knoppix Hacks" -I think it's 3.4 but I'm not sure.
I was able to play music off a cd in my dvd/cd player once before. I just loaded 'kscd' and it did the mounting for me. now it wont work, neither will the 'mount' command, nor the cd/dvdrom icons in kde. Can anyone help??

this is what I get in my terminal-
Code:
marf@kbox:~$ mount /cdrom
mount: special device /dev/cdrom does not exist
[/code]

"Are there diosaurs in heaven??" You are young. So, you loaded Kscd, itworked, but now it does not. You can try a diffrent player or check KDE's webb site to see is there is bug with your player.

thanks

Thank you for the help. . I know it wasn't the program because I couldn't even mount the cdrom at ALL. I installed mandrake because a hard drive install of knoppix is a silly idea anyway-and for the record, Mandrake has never let me down.
