nvidia drivers?

i tried out the nvidia drivers that came with the knoppix cd.. it definatly seemed to make performance decline along with appearance.. i have a geforce fx 5500 . Anyone have any advice for a good set of drivers? or how to make these work.. thanks

Hopefully you will learn that google is a friend not a crazy search engine that'll eat up your pc... theres nothing scary in googling...
