How to set up my cable internet connection

I have read through the Knoppix toutorials and even tried to read the threads here to figure out how to get my connection to work. It obviously works fine with windows because im posting here now but I would like it to work with Knoppix. I don't use a router and my cable modem is usb. if you guys could help it would be appreciated greatly. thanks.

It would be easier to plug a NIC in and set the Internet connection through that.

Don't forget the most important part, you will probably need a dialer of some sort if it is ADSL. USBCable modems will require a driver, probably available from the manufactuers site if offered. However, a ethernet connection generaly just utilizes TCP/IP, a networking standard and something that can be used easily cross platform. Best bet would be to look for an ethernet modem, but if thats not an option, look at the manufactures site for one.
