Hello

TO cut a long story short, I wanted/needed to create a rc.local for my Knoppix system.

So I found this: http://www.plope.com/Members/chrism/...rc_local_equiv

And followed the info. Now I want to reverse this!!

Is it as simple as going to /etc/init.d/ and deleting 'local'?

Or do I have to do that then run some kind of update command?

Basically I created it, rebooted and the text that normally comes up before launching init level 5 was different so now I am panicing...

I dont have to run any kind of update command?

I am well paranoid that if I reboot now it wont know where to look for the startup stuff and fail to boot at all...

Nope no updtae command.

If it was there already, I'd only delete the contents you added, but if you created it youy can delete it.

Since all you did was place a script named local in the directory, removing it should fix the problem, like Dylunio said (make a copy of it anyway, just to be super-anal). You shouldn't have to run any kind of update script.
