I like Knoppix because it is a bootable live CD, however I can't get jack worth of internet from it.

I've noticed that many other people on this forum have come across this same problem and I was wondering what the exact way to get Knoppix to work with my wireless network adapter card.



I'm using a DSL connection from SBC Yahoo.

What is the exact way to get Knoppix working with my wireless card?
I've read people replying with advice to get a linux driver at different forums.

Where do i get this driver?
Where do i install it at?
How do i set it up in Knoppix?[/img]

Broadcom chips usually require ndiswrapper to get working under linux. It uses your Windows drivers to get the card up and running, but it may be a bit more involved than you would want if you're just trying linux out with a live cd.

How do i set it up is what i'm wondering.
Is it possible?
And if so, could someone describe the steps to do it?

I have no clue what "ndiswrapper" is.

I would say that it's possible (although without more info on the card, I don't want to say too much). Some of the best instructions are on the ndiswrapper wiki site, along with a list of cards known to work, etc. Have a look around:

Really, just making sure that you know the right chipset for your card and having the driver files handy should be what you need. After that, the installation instructions on the site I gave you are pretty darn thorough.

How do i find out the exact chipset i have?

In Windows, I'm not sure, actually. In linux, would probably tell you.
