Ive got knoppix 3.7 live cd and i am a total newb and i want to know how i can set up the internet on knoppix my ISP is BT i have a speedtouch usb modem on ADSL.

any info would be great

It's a bit tricky (not that bad, just a bit of extra work) to get Speedtouch USB modems working in linux. Do you have a hard drive install of Knoppix or are you using the live cd? If you're just "test driving" with the live cd, it may be a bit more trouble than it's worth for you.

Yeah i only got the live cd at the moment im fining knoppix itself quite interesting but its really annoying when i need to find a tutorial or query a search when im on knoppix cos i gotta restart the computer and start windows then i gotta load linux back up so im looking for the option of starting the internet in knoppix

so any other help will be apprectiated

I have exactly the same problem.
I am new to this and have just installed Mandrake 9.1. I have a speedtouch 330 adsl modem that connects to my pc via a usb slot. When i try to use the internet setup wizzard it keeps looking for the modem at the ethernet connection.

Will someone please explain to me in a step by step way how to configure my modem.

same problem as described above. using live knoppix cd. I want to get internet working regardless of how much trouble. someone please post how.
