Apt-Get issues

when I type "apt-get update" or "apt-get -f update" all I get is this:

E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occured while processing libxml-sax-machines-perl (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Now I wanna update some things but I can't because of this. Any ideas?

I'm currently running KnoppixDVD 3.6B installed to the harddrive by using knoppix-installer.

I could be wrong, but it would first occur to me that I've indeed run out of space on my / partition. Is that a possible cause of the problem? You have Kwikdisk installed on Knoppix I believe. Locate it in your menu and run it to see what it says.

Hmmm. Puzzling... Are you running apt-get as root?
