setting up internet on Knoppix

i have knoppix 3.7 and it works perfectly but i have no idea how to set up my internet connection on it,

i already have broadband from BT with everything workin fine on Windows XP.


but how do i get this to work on Knoppix?? i am new to linux - so an explanation would be thanked!

if you have ethernet on your bt modem, it might b easier to use that rather than the USB, that way, just plug it in the ethernet (and if in knoppix, restart network) if not, boot knoppix, it should just work for you

installing programs without root passwd

I just want to know if I can install yahoo messenger or gaim without root password!
Is this possible or no?
That's because I have no root privilegies on the computer...

is this on knoppix or not? If not, start a new thread for questions such as this.

To answer your question though, i believe that you might be able to, but only your user will be able to access the program.
