Knoppix doubts

I got knoppix linux from a friend who lives in canada, i live in the UK, and i need to know if it is possible to use linux from the CD, when i try and access the CD nothing happens, and i tryed when i rebooted, is there a problem with the CD or is it my drive?

Another question, will it work on the following:

399MHZ Pentium 2 process
192mb/RAM
18.6GB hard drive

Are your booting preferences set right? It happened to a friend of mine who wanted to see what linux is like. She tried using the Knoppix live CD I gave. Finally we discovered that her booting preference were not set correctly and the system was booting from HD instead of the CD.

go to BIOS and set that the first boot device is CD-ROM. it has to work then.

if not, then it's up to the CD.
