hello all

i have got a shiny new dell with a nice 17'' LCD monitor

off the knoppix live cd 3.9 i can only get a screen resolution of 680x420 and it will not change what ever i try and do, xrandr kxconfig......

the package works fine on windoz

(also what ever live cd linux i use has the same effect, ubuntu, slax...)


the graphis is onboard intel 85865G

i do not want to commit to hd install until i can get this up and running

ps i am sure it is the graphics card issue as same happens even if i use a crt

ooh i also get an error on boot up saying
'you have entered an unrecognised mode number, please select from the list below or type scan'

non of the numbers work and scan does nothing

also knoppix screen=1280x1024 depth=24 does nothing

I see that on almost every livecd I use, just hit the SPACE bar, it should be O.K. Along with what Lakerdonald said.
