Knoppix 3.9 on VMware, Resolution won't increase

I am running Knoppix 3.9 on VMWare 5. What I do to start up Knoppix is type in this:

Code:
knoppix myconf=scan knoppix screen=1280x1024
The saved config runs fine but the screen resolution is only at 1024x768. In the bootup screen it says available modes "1280x1024 1024x768 ...." but in the desktop there is no option for 1280x1024.

I am pretty new to Linux so I am probably missing something simple. Anyone know?
