Knoppix 3.9 - won't boot from CD

I'm totally new to Linux, but I'm interested in learning

Trying to install Knoppix 3.9 from a CD, but the system (Debian running) ignores it.

The boot order is okay, so it should boot from the CD before looking to the harddrive.

Downloaded the 3.9 file from a German mirror and burnt it onto a CD.

Anybody got any clues on why this is happening? Grateful for any replies.

The BIOS is set so that it'll boot from CD...it seems as if it "looks at" the CD, but then goes straight to the harddrive and starts Debian.

Someone said that it might not find the boot part of the CD, but I just burnt the file I downloaded from a German mirror site onto a CD, so it should work

I was having probles like that too on my mothers computer. I knew the disk was good because I had used it on mine. I ended up making a boot floppy from http://linux.simple.be/tools/sbm and it works great.
