Need Knoppix to detect my HD...

I previously had a defective hard drive. I recently got a replacement. I tried to install Windows XP onto the hard drive, but the disk is scratched. So now I just need Knoppix to detect my new HD. How do I make it do this?

Knoppix does a load of hardware detection things on bootup, so just make sure the hard drive is properly attached before you start the computer and it should detect all your drives and partitions -- unless the scratch causes some sort of fatal error......

Thhe hard drive is installed correctly, but the scratch is only on the Windows XP CD, not the harddrive. Is there no way I can make Knoppix do a manual search?
