how to install rpm programs in knoppix 4.0

how do you use alein to install rpm programs?

Alien will convert the package. You will have to install it yourself.

I know ... holy necropost, but I was led astray by this thread and I thought others might too. Knoppix has the RPM tools built in so you can just execute RPMs directly:

rpm -i <package name>

The only problem is for your first rpm you'll first get an error that /usr/src/rpm/SOURCES doesn't exist. Simply create that directory, rerun the rpm command and you'll be good to go.
