Sound Driver Funktitude

Hi Folks!

On my new Motherboard Knoppix 4.x detects the sound as i810 and it doesn't work properly, However .... the Knoppix Games DVD detects it as i8xx and it works just fine.

I've noticed Zenwalk will install that i8xx driver and I have working sound, but another distro (Mepis maybe) used i810 and it didn't function properly.

Is i8xx just a newer version of the i810 intel motherboard sound driver, or is it a different animal from i810 altogether?

Is i8xx included on knoppix and can I force my knoppix 4.0.2 DVD and CD to use it?

Any help would be apreciated.
