What Live Linux could I use to delete or move a file on an XP formatted HD? I am just here to learn and I have tried dozens of Live CD's and it always says "could not delete" or something of that Nature. Please help me figure a good version to use. My hardware is only a year old so I still have network card not recognized errors.
As of now the NTFS file system that XP uses can not be written to from linux. That means that you can only read, not delete add new or move files.
Does that mean that apps like Trinity and F-prot and windows anti virus live knoppix or other CD will not repair the targets that it locates? Strange how it can look into the file system and read it fine but not delete anything. So if one wants to use programs that delete files they must ask the windows user to downgrade to 2000 I guess. I am probably wrong again though.. Please let me know and Thank you for the reply.
The trinity Rescue Kit supplies directions for adding NTFS support to it.
After downloading and burning the Iso that I gave in your other thread, just type "links" all will be explained.
