modem with damnsmall

I just installed dsl to hd..looks interesting..it recognized my serial mouse and snd card but did not mention the modem..I did PPP setup and hit dial...it dials a connection but is very slow..and when I download or send I have to move the mouse constantly or the download stops..Why is this..is it a modem issue..I have an internal fm8818 with rockwell chipset..I read this would work which it does but slow..do I need drivers?..how would I install the driver..is it the same driver I use for win. why does the mouse effect the process..any help would be greatly appreciated..

solution

I jumped the modem to com2 and disabled com2 in the bios then switched to com2 in pppsetup this solved the mouse issue. This is an internal ISA modem so this may work for others with ISA internals and damnsmall...thanks
