Hi everyone , I am looking around for a linux distro for my new amd64 bit machine both live cd's and standard installs I dont see too many options so far .
so if anyon knows of a few distros let me know

Don't see too many options? Every major distro has a 64-bit version, including Fedora, SuSE, Mandriva, Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu, and scores of others. The real question you should ask yourself however is not which 64-bit bit distro to choose, but whether or not you actually *want* a 64-bit distro. There really isn't a compelling reason to use one right now unless you want bragging rights.

You are right, there are not many live CDs that are 64bit: Ubuntu has live and install disks for the 64bit architecture, and Kanotix has 2005.4 Lite for AMD64.

As techiemoe says, however, every major distribution has a 64bit port available if you are looking for a straight up install.

There is no compelling reason to use a 64bit distro right now: most open source applications are 32bit, so you won't see a marked performance improvement.
