Knoppix is based on Debian, so I believe Synaptic ships with it. In fact installing Knoppix on a hdd is a good way to get a Debian installation. After that it's a case of hooking up to the net, adding some repositories and installing whatever you want.

The default package manager for Knoppix 4 is kpackgage, located in the system folder. Knoppix 5 has both. This is for the cd version, the dvd version may have both, it has alot more packages in it.

The easiest way to to install aMSN on knoppix is to download the debian file,

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/a...386.stable.deb

Then, open shell and type:
Code:
su
dpkg -i ""
Where "" is the directory where you downloaded aMSN. (if you just saved it, it would be under /home/knoppix/amsn_0.96rc1-1.i386.stable.deb)

That's it!
