apt-get install packet under linux LIVE

hi

I have downloaded Troppix 1.2 Live, started from CD and installed a program
using apt-get, but my system installed on the harddisk doesn't boot anymore.

what happens exactly under linux LIVE when I'm doing:
Code:
apt-get install packet
the packet will be installed on the harddisk or it will be written only temporary into RAM ?

greetings

It should only be written to RAM. Knoppix by default doesn't mount any drives (as far as I remember), nor does it mount them with write privileges when you mount them. It would take some doing to mess up an installed sistem, especially windows, with knoppix
