Unhappy Failing to save permament home on HD

I have a Inspiron B130 loaded with Win XP home edition (1GB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, broad band)

I was able to download Knoppix 5.1.1 and boot from my USB pendrive after following the directions offered in www.pendrivelinux.com (sorry about the link... no promotion intended...)

I have been trying to create a persistent image of my home directory + configuration files but haven't been able to do it. After receiving a warning regarding the lack of support for NTFS partitions it apparently creates the persistent home (I gave it about 1GB)

When trying to reboot, however, knoppix myconfig home=/dev/hda2 (or something like that... a cheatcode from the booting options in knoppix) it doesn't find the home directory nor the configuration files (I can see them when I use plain old Win XP)

What am I doing wrong and how do I manage to do it right?

Thanks a lot for your time
