Let's try this first:

Type 'ifconfig' into a terminal (if that doesn't work, try /sbin/ifconfig) to figure out what device your network card is. After that is figured out, type (as root) 'ifup ethX' (replace X with your device number').

Although i did not see my network adapter on lsmod, nut it is listed on dsl system stats as realtek RTK, driver 8139too. Sorry for the inconvinience. what should i do now?

Try loading the module for the 8139too:
Code:
sudo modprobe 8139too
After that, try some of the other steps we have suggested.

BTW, I'm not sure I want to help a Decepticon .

Modprobe results.

Hey i tried sudo modprobe 8139too, and this is what came out.

Hint: insmod errors can be used by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more info in syslog or the output from dmesg /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: failed /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: insmod 8139too failed.

Dont know what to do now.... i tried swapping it on the other pci slot and it still is missing, dont know whats wrong... it worked fine with the live cd. thanks for your help autobot. i appreciate it.
