knoppix usb no hard drive

I hope someone can help me! I'm pretty new to the linux world.
I'm trying to create a usb stick that can boot up and run VNCviewer without a harddrive. I've been trying this with (don't laugh) Knoppix 3.7 and VNC 4.1. free version.
Right now I can boot with 2 floppies, run Knoppix from cd, and run VNCviewer from USB on the K-desktop. I need to eliminate the floppies and cdrom because the pc is in a harsh work environment.

Any suggestions!

I tried the USB Knoppix but :

can't find knoppix filesystem sorry dropping ...

I tried with a couple of cd's. same thing with all.
5.1.1 doesn't default to DMA accel so no need for 'nodma'

I can't even run debug mode.

I think this is a Syslinux configuration issue... namely it's not passing the correct parameter to the kernel as to exactly where the image file is located.

Does the computer you're currently attempting to boot from have an SATA drive? This may affect the device assignments so Knoppix is looking for its image on the hard drive instead of the pen drive. You can edit the pendrive's syslinux.cfg to correct for that, but it might also prevent booting from a computer with no hard drive.

Unfortunately, I can't really help much from this point as I don't have such a configuration I can play with. Note: another site thread suggest you unplug and replug the pendrive and keep rebooting until it works, suggesting at some fluke of timing it eventually will. I have no idea if this suggestion has any merrit.

have you thought about installing Ubuntu on a USB and then running vncviwer from it? might have better luck

Before I do much of anything else, I should learn how to properly burn a bootable cd from an ISO. I tried using make_bootable on a USB and installing some DOS commands along with loadlin on KNOPPIX 4.0.2. The autoexec.bat I wrote seems to work but none of the PCs I experiment with recognize the loadlin.
I don't know...
I've been jumping from one thing to another.
Any reliable freeware for burning bootable CDs from ISOs?

I succeeded in making a boot usb from KNOPPIX 5.1.1 and Insert.
Still working with DSL-no luck yet.

I need help with some knoppix: writing to the filesystem.
I posted a new thread in the knoppix forum.
