Hey all,
SLES10 machine wont boot (posted about this in suse area) so have tried Opensuse live cd (mounted drive and can see partitions but not folders/files).

Can't mount drive to rescue files - help
Hey all,
SLES10 machine wont boot (posted about this in suse area) so have tried Opensuse live cd (mounted drive and can see partitions but not folders/files).
Burnt knoppix to CD...can anyone help me access my files with it (mount drive) so i can back them up to usb?

Open a terminal and post the output of
-l has a small L rather than a one.Code:mount sudo fdisk -l

y0 - I'm not at the machine right now but i'm familiar with those commands.
In the end I couldn't mount the drive correctly with live cd, nor knoppix - I think it was to do with LVM.
However, I got the server to boot by using the install DVD: install / other / boot with dvd. I could then access my files.
So got there in the end but, GRUB is fubbar'd O_o

Once you get the system to boot you should be able to reinstall grub - can do this through yast or command line. Output of
should give correct partition for menu fileCode:su - grub find /boot/grub/menu.lst
lets say it returns (hd0,0)
then do
Then try a system restart and see if the system can boot.Code:root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) quit
