Making a Hard drive install Read Only?
I'm working on a knoppix based kiosk system, but we built it using compact flash (on a SATA adaptor).
It works great.. (and boots freaking fast!) but it seems like i'm left with 2 options.. either set up a user settings file system, or delete the knoppix-data.img file, and get a prompt on every bootup asking me if I want to create that file.
I'd rather not have either.
Does anyone know what I'd need to do to turn off that prompt? (or even set it's timeout to 1 millisecond or something) That'd be the ideal.. I know the system wouldn't truly be read only.. but it wouldn't automatically save any changes to things like xorg.conf across bootups.. which is what I want.
Thanks for the help, I've googled this one to death, and am clearly missing something..
