Can't see C: drive
I'm a complete novice with Knoppix and indeed Linux. So please go slow with answers!!
I'm in the middle Vista disaster. (Hold on!) I'm trying to figure out why I can't re install it by using Knoppix and Hard Disk diagnostic tools. My Vista installation almost finishes but gives me the error "Windows cannot access the installation sources. Verify that the installation sources are accessible, and restart the installation."
BUT, the reason I'm here is that Knoppix (after I installed it onto my hard drive) gives me a screen full of errors such as
pci bar 6 source can't allocate mem resource
many lines of: error ( UNC ) and: media error
lots of numbers;
and at the end says, "kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!".
I've read other forum posts but they're a bit too complicated for me and/ or not relevant.
I'm quite thankful that I've got some information about what exactly is failing rather than the complete lack with windows.
Does this mean a hardware failure? How can I fix it?
I've tried other avast! bart and that doesn't recognize my hard drive and neither did windows xp when I tried to install that.
