    knoppix desktop icons disappear

    hi just downloaded knoppix 6.4.4 live cd.
    When i boot from it the desktop eventually appears but every icon starts to disappear untill im left only with the background and taskbar being shown.
    i can still click on icons on the task bar but when the windows open up i get just a blank window.
    So everything seems functional but i cant see any of it.

    Im running intel i7 940 with intel DX58SO,
    4gb ram and nvidia gtx 295 graphics card.

    when you boot there should be a prompt which will appear long enough for you to enter the cheatcode "Knoppix xmodule = nv" (without quotes). I have Nvidia also, I no longer use knoppix I have upgraded to full Debian. I still use Knoppix as a rescue disk and whenever I do I need that cheatcode.

    In other words, Knoppix is clearly not handling your graphics card properly. By the way, I was using Knoppix 6.2.1 - no idea about 6.4.
