    freedos with knoppix

im trying to install freedos on my 82 gb 500 mb hardisk
using freedos that comes with knoppix because cos ive downloaded alot of dos abandonware (no longer supported software) but there is one problem dos wont recognize
the hardisk i dont think it is a hardware problem because knoppix recognizes if its possible to dos format the hardisk that would do. thanks

have you considered making a second partition, and formatting
    that with a suitable filesystem?

I think it would be a good idea if you posted a little more info on what you have done. Saying Freedos doesn't recognize the drive is pretty vague. Do you have Knoppix installed to the drive or are you just using it as a Live CD. I wasn't aware that Freedos was on a Knoppix disk. How do you try to install it? Do you get any error messages? Have you read the information at the link below or something similar:

If FreeDOS is giving you issues, you may want to look into DOSBox.
It's been a while, but I've used it in the past for some abandonware games, with pretty good success.

By the way, Welcome to the Forums!
