    Knoppix 7.2 freezes

Having downloaded Knoppix 7.2, I experience incessant crashes making it impossible to work with it.

It seems to be a graphics issue - each time I close a window I get a lot of red spots, presumably the start of an animation, and the computer freezes. Same thing happens - though not consequently - when closing windows that disappear with a break-up animation. Attempts to close/restart X are futile. Neither CTR-ALT-Esc, CTR-ALT-Bcksp nor CTR-ALT-F2 have any effect whatsoever.

The computer is an I7 with 6GB RAM installed, Nvidia 580 Graphics card. Solution, anybody?

    hello and welcome, Talyinka!

Is it the compiz fusion eye-candy that's causing that? If so, try booting with knoppix no3d and see if that helps.

Thanks - that solved the problem.
