i have knoppix 3.8 (so far, at least). when booting, there's a message it found my soundcard driver but then there is no sound. what should i do?...

have you been into alsamixer and checked that all the sound levels are turned up? Open up a console and type
start some music playing and play around with the levels.Code:alsamixer

i have tried typing alsamixer from user, from root, tried searching for such a file, and looked through the whole menu but i can't find it anywhere

Can you post what the make/model of the sound card is, and also the output of the command
as root.Code:lsmod

thank you very much for help

actually i think i'm going to switch to kanotix. not only because it had sound automatically.
i have had some problems installing knoppix. it said it can't write a couple of files and now it's working slightly weird. especially the polish support which i do need 'cause i have to write things somehow...
i'll see how i can manage with kanotix and hope i won't have to trouble you again.
