Hmm.. it looks (scans) for the knoppix config file (which you can save to a fat32 for example), I guess?

Thats exactly what it does. If you run the live cd and change any settings (desktop, network card, video card etc) You can click on Kmenu, Knoppix, and find the "save configuration" menu. It will then ask you where to save the settings, you can choose the hard drive, floppy disk, usb pen drive, as long as its formatted fat32.
The purpose of it is when you reload your live cd, you dont have to waste time tweaking all of your settings again, just type myconfig=scan at the boot prompt, knoppix searches for the file, loads it, and everything is just as you left it.Registered Linux user #388374
