Do I need a key? I don't think our network is set up to have one. It could have one but we never set it up that way. My dad and I had enough trouble with it as it was..

The key should be easy to set up on the router side, and then you can use iwconfig to set the key on the card.

Nevermind, I got it working, I'm using linux right now in fact. Thanks everyone for all your help it is appreciated. I only have one more question, when I turn this off will it still work, I mean the whole computer..

You might have to modprobe again but the procedure remains the same.
