DWL-G520 Driver
Hello,
i've a DLink AirPlus G+ DWL-G520+ Wireless PCI card on my computer, i've tried to run Whax, but the system doesn't recognize the card. Do I need drivers for Linux?
Can you help me to find them?
Thanks a lot

In console do lspci -v to find chipset. If its the acx111 you need the firmware, otherwise you might need to use ndiswrapper and a windows driver.

In a console or terminal window type lspci -v which will show something like this:-
00:0c.0 Network controller: Texas Instruments ACX 111 54Mbps Wireless Interface
Subsystem: D-Link System Inc DWL-G520+ Wireless PCI Adapter
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11
Memory at cfffa000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Memory at cffa0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K]
You may need to type /sbin/lspci -v, post back the result.Elive,kanotix-mini,pclinuxos super gamer,xp, sidux

Subsystem: D-Link System Inc: Unknown device 3b04
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10
Memory at cfdde000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Memory at cfda0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128K]

Now what to do?

Which version of knoppix do you have and is it the dvd or cd? Is this a hard drive install or are you running live cd? I ask because 5.0.1 cd has problems with ndiswrapper - it's broken the last time I looked.

Ah didn't notice it's not knoppix you are using. Well whax is now discontinued and merged with Auditor Security Linux under the name of BackTrack so dunno where you go for support but if Whax comes with ndiswrapper try in a console ndiswrapper -l and see what you get. Or you may be lucky and the acx module might be in there somewhere so try modprobe acx. Other than that I think you may be stuck for wireless.
Just to confuse things further heres this from distrowatch - WHAX is a new name of what used to be called Whoppix, a security and penetration testing live CD. While Whoppix was based on Knoppix, the new WHAX is now based on SLAXElive,kanotix-mini,pclinuxos super gamer,xp, sidux
