Running Knoppix 5.1.0 when I probe for a modem I get a return showing two modems, one on ttys0 and one on ttys1.

Modem on COM3 show as 2 modems
Newbee question.
Running Knoppix 5.1.0 when I probe for a modem I get a return showing two modems, one on ttys0 and one on ttys1.
The modem is a ZOOM 56k PCI card modem on COM3 when looking at it in Windoze. Replaced a winmodem ages ago and it works under Windoze.
When trying to connect as ttys1 Knoppix finds the modem and never completes initializing it. If I try on ttys2 (as per Linux book) the modem always shows 'busy'.
Any suggestions?
