Hello, this is my first time to use DSL on my comp. I booted the live cd and everything was great, theres an internet connection and my lan card was detected, after installing it on a 6gb hardisk, i cant use my internet cause it did not dewtect my card, i have tried lspci and found my card was listed there which is realtek ethernet adapter. Thanks, and please help me.

Let's try this first:
Type 'ifconfig' into a terminal (if that doesn't work, try /sbin/ifconfig) to figure out what device your network card is. After that is figured out, type (as root) 'ifup ethX' (replace X with your device number').Looking for a distro? Look here.

Post the output of "lsmod".

results....
i did sudo lsmod and the terminal displayed it, but one thing.. in ubuntu i can copy paste from the terminal and put it into any text editor, on dsl.. i cant? why is this so.... i was gonna post my lsmod. Although i did not see my network adapter on lsmod, nut it is listed on dsl system stats as realtek RTK, driver 8139too. Sorry for the inconvinience. what should i do now?
- 02-11-2007 #6
Try loading the module for the 8139too:
After that, try some of the other steps we have suggested.Code:sudo modprobe 8139too
BTW, I'm not sure I want to help a Decepticon

Modprobe results.
Hey i tried sudo modprobe 8139too, and this is what came out.
Hint: insmod errors can be used by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more info in syslog or the output from dmesg /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: failed /lib/modules/2.4/kernel/drivers/net/b44.o: insmod 8139too failed.
Dont know what to do now.... i tried swapping it on the other pci slot and it still is missing, dont know whats wrong...
it worked fine with the live cd. thanks for your help autobot. i appreciate it.
