Sound card not working ...............

here is no sound in my computer...
When i get into the sndconfig it says....

you don't seem to be running a kernel with modular sound enabled. │
│ (soundcore.o was not found in the module search path). │

What is the problem....
I am using knoppix 5.1 ...
It is the latest...and when i installed it the sound was working but now there occured some problem

try running alsaconf from the command line (konsole) as root and see if any errors occur
