Can Knoppix Help witn XP Again
I have a problem with a Gateway Computer running XP home edition. During the Logon process it goes to desktop for a second and then logs off. I tried blanking out the passwords with different downloads and advice from oter forums but it didn't fix the problem. Then I remembered how you guy helped before with a blue screen problem and saved my butt and all my hair being pulled out so I decided to tempt fate one more time. I have been told that an entry in my registry needs to be changed but I can't logon so I can't get to the registry to make the change. I have tried using the recovery console but the change suggested wont fix the problem.
My question: Can knoppix help me to get into the registry and make the changes that are supposed to get me to be able to log into windows XP ?

Mount Windows Partitions using ntfs-3g system.
Execute this
Open Konqueror and navigate to /media/win_c folder.Code:su mkdir /media/win_c mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/hda1 /media/win_c -o defaults,umask=0
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

You can't get into the registy using Knoppix or any other Linux to my knowledge. BartPE is what you are looking for. Maybe you can boot up with Konppix and download/burn BartPE that way.
