Cant boot Knoppix
i used Roxio to burn Knoppix onto a cd using the Burn Image button but when i restart to boot from cd knoppix loads then it says press enter to load linux or something like that i see 2 lines of words popup really quick (i cant read it it happens too fast) then the screen turns black
is this a bad burn or something?
my specs are...
Processor: ADM Athlon(tm) 64 dual core processor 4400+ 2.30GHz
RAM: 2046 MB (2 Gigs)
System type: 32 bit Windows Vista OS
hope thats enough info
A couple of questions, How long is the blank screen there for?
Is the monitor still on not in standby mode - so its still recieving a signal.
Can you try the disk on something else?
the blank screen is there for 5 minutes thats the longest i have waited before restarting my computer
the monitor is still on
i believe the disk would only work on vista comps
my old computer is a windows xp i can try it on that if you think i should
I would just to try to confim if the CD is OK, either that or do a checksum check on the disk - I have heard this done but I am not sure how to as I have never had to do it myself.
If the ISO file and burned CD are ok, try experimenting with some of the kernel boot options (cheat codes) that are available to you through the keyboard F-keys right before the CD begins to boot. You should see a message about them before it begins to boot.
It sounds like Knoppix might be having a problem with your graphics card, or maybe some other piece of hardware.
