Knoppix 5.1 and ndiswrapper. System hangs ...

I went as far as ...

# ndiswrapper -l which showed that the driver was installed. I did then depmod -a and modprobe ndiswrapper. At this point, the system hanged.

I retried without depmod -a; but, the system hanged again.

Any idea why knoppix would hang?
