[SOLVED] Adobe Flash Player
Hi all,
First time Linux user here!
I'm trying to get Adobe Flash Player so I can watch youtube videos. I've followed the instructions on the Adobe website, but it doesn't quite pan out the way they say. I was hoping somebody here could help figure it out.
I've installed knoppix v6.2 on to the hard drive, gone to the Adobe site and downloaded a couple of their install packs for linux to the desktop. Here is a paste from the terminal emulator:
knoppix at Microknoppix:~/Desktop$ ls
flash-plugin-10.0.42.34-release.i386. rpm install_flash_player_10_linux.tar. gz
knoppix at Microknoppix:~/Desktop$ rpm -Uvh install_flash_player_10_linux.tar. gz
install_flash_player_10_linux.tar. gz: not an rpm package (or package manifest):
knoppix at Microknoppix:~/Desktop$ rpm -Uvh flash-plugin-10.0.42.34-release.i386. rpm
rpm: To install rpm packages on Debian systems, use alien. See README.Debian.
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
knoppix at Microknoppix:~/Desktop$
The thing is, this isn't a Debian system, I can't find this "alien" on the system anywhere and the Adobe website didn't mention anything about it either.
Any help provided would be much appreciated.
Thanks
