Will poor man's install on ntfs harm anything?
In the past I have used Knoppix 5.3.1 to access the internet, as it sees my usb modem but Vista does not. This worked well for me, but I don't like the constant wear on the dvd drive. So I made a poor man's install: knoppix tohd=/dev/sda1, and also saved a persistant home/config on an external usb drive.
I am able to use this setup very well:
knoppix fromhd=/dev/sda1 knoppix home=/dev/sdb2/knoppix.img
I have heard it said that writing anything from Linux to an ntfs drive will eventually cause corruption of the file system. I have also heard that it doesn't. Since I am only using a dvd image, do I have to worry about anything like this? I really love the setup I have now.
Comments will be greatly appreciated and seriously considered.
