When shutdown the system sometimes it's shutdown but

Why is My Laptop is halted instead of shutdown ??
Hi friends,
I'm using Fedora 7 on acer aspire 5310.
When shutdown the system sometimes it's shutdown but
Sometimes when i tried to shutdown laptop using shutdown option from menu.
The system is halted and the curser blink's and blinks and blinks and ....
Not shutting down the system.
What's the issue?Do i need change some setting in inittab?

finally its shuts down .....
Solution :
Press the shutdown button for few seconds more than usual (stupid me )

- 12-07-2007 #4I didn't see this thread until now. You mean the physical power button? What you have is probably some kind of ACPI failure. Many laptops have that, as they all seem to need a different setting... it's often a little experimentation before you get it to work.

correct solution
hii friends .. i m also using fedora 7 on acer aspire5053
earlier i am also facing same problem of halting of system instead of shutdown , but when i update my fedora from net the problem is resolved ,.
so i suggested ou to update your fedora or any other linux version.
it sure sutdown
