after I upgraded to kubuntu 8 on my laptop, I am unable to use software suspend (ACPI S3).

It appears that the problem occurs at the end of the suspend procedure. I get to the point where I see "suspending consoles", then nothing. I can change to and between terminals 1-6, but when I try to go back to #7 (where X was), I get a black screen and the keyboard is dead. only way out of this is a forced reboot.
