There are many drivers on most distributions. If your laptop has a CD drive, then you may want to try Slackware or Puppy Linux. If it is bootable from USB then you may also want to try Puppy Linux. If there is only a floppy drive, then your choices are more limited, but minux would be one.
As soon as you have an operating system up and running and have established a network connection, you can upgrade your system more to your liking.
